Champion axeman visits Waihi

Timbersports World Champion, Jason Wynyard will be in Waihi for a family fun day on Saturday to mark the re-branding of a new business in town.

Jason, who has won more than 110 world titles in his sporting career, will be the star attraction at the event staged by business-owners Greg McLarnon and partner Siobhan FitzGerald to launch their new-look STIHL Shop, formerly known as Waihi Outdoor Power which has joined the STIHL Shop dealer network.

Timbersports World Champion, Jason Wynyard, who is as skilful with a chainsaw as with an axe, will be in Waihi on Saturday for a family fun day.

The fun day, from 9am to 2pm at 36 Kenny Street, Waihi will include fire engine rides for kids and a live chainsaw carving demonstration. There will also be free face-painting and one lucky person will walk away with a STIHL MS 251 CBEQ Chainsaw and safety pack, valued at over $1,000.

STIHL Shop Waihi will gift a chainsaw to the local Waihi Volunteer Fire Brigade to thank them for their commitment to Waihi.

Siobhan says, “It’ll be great to have the fire brigade involved. They’re all volunteers doing a lot of work for our community so it will be nice to give something back.”

Also at the event will be a sausage sizzle supporting the Waihi Warriors League Club, whose under 7s team is proudly sponsored by STIHL Shop Waihi.

Greg says, “We’re over the moon about the upgrade. Being a part of the STIHL network means our STIHL Shop is able to offer customers professional products and services, locally. We can’t wait to extend the level of excellence to tradies around town.”

The new store, the 65th in the dealer network, remains at 36 Kenny St and has undergone a branding re-vamp and changes to the store layout.

Greg and Siobhan say they can’t thank the community enough for their support towards making the business such a success and they look forward to seeing locals at the opening celebration.
