New regional leaders for network

The East Waikato Dairy Women’s Network group welcomes two new regional leaders to the team and both are farming in Walton.

Astra-Lee Burrows farms with her partner on a 380-cow farm and Jodie Goudswaard sharemilks 530 cows with her partner. They are both excited to be joining Rachel Scimgeour and Suzie McIntyre to bring new events and training opportunities to dairy women in the East Waikato.

The East Waikato group covers the rural areas surrounding Matamata, Morrinsville and Te Aroha and their aim is to support and inspire women in the business of dairying.

The group’s first event of the season is a Lameness Workshop which Jodie is hosting on their farm on Hutchinson Rd on Thursday, October 5.

“It will be very practical and hands-on with participants able to get in there and have a go at hoof trimming themselves,” says Jodie. Presented by Rosie Reyneke from MSD Animal Health, the workshop will start at 11am and include some theory followed by a practical session, and finish off with a barbecue lunch.

The workshop is open to anyone and free to attend so farm staff and partners can all come, but please register so there is enough food for the lunch. To register visit Dairy Women’s Network www.dwn.co.nz
